My Wesley
Daniel Millard 1976 (Medford, OR)
Is it strange that I so often see, in my mind's eye, images of you leaving me, leaving this Earth
Leaving the people and places and things that make you so happy and alive
I find myself reaching out to hold your hand in these little silent moments
And then I break the silence with "I love you my darling"
I have to say it now and often, because I can see it
A moment in time when my heart is broken in two
One piece taken away with you to wherever beautiful souls go
This comforts me because I never want you to be without me
Always I'll be by your side
My husband and my best friend and truly my favorite human being
I thank God for this wisdom and painful insight
I'm so very happy and appreciative of this time together
Time to soften my words, to touch tenderly the life of my lover
To express my utter gratitude to you here and now
You saw me from our first moments
It is through your vision of me that I learned to see myself
Learning to love and show true kindness to myself
You uncovered my truth and made me shine
My true heart smiled in joy in your presence
You are my safe place and so I made my life and home with you
You saved me from the chaotic world that I made
