2020/08/27 ~ Halfmoon

Cheyenne Seaman 2003 (Philadelphia)

Waxing half-moon overhead

And not a cloud dances in the sky.

As many get ready for bed,

I bet almost none watch the moon float by.

Way out in the countryside,

Two sway under the moonlight

To a tune, only a lover's heart can hear.

Crickets play a song for the only souls in sight

While to illuminate their night.

The half-moon shines near.

In the mounts where the rivers flow,

There lies a camp where the weary rest.

The moon holds out her arms,

Comfort to show.

For with a mother's embrace,

She always does her best.

When the light shines worldwide

Upon the beaten and the unharmed,

Upon all that run this race,

Her gentle comfort will nobody protest.
