2020/08/25 ~ A Heart In Love Is A Heart Caged

Bittersweet tears long to be shed,
And soon like a storm, they'll come in torrents.
My heart, it cries, "Please let me free!
For only then will you know any peace!"

Mile after mile, I push and I tread
Not caring to know my destination.
Green trees dancing in the light breeze;
The mockingbirds, how they sing in the hills!

My heart, she pounds within my chest
Yearning for freedom she may never get.
I think of all those free to love;
Never again will I explore Cupid's turf.

The fawns, how they frolic all day!
Watch as the morning glories open wide!
Only the river watches me
Rushing and dashing upon the black rocks.

Deep in my heart, the thunder rolls
So I lock her up and throw out the key.
Now when someone ventures my way,
I tune out my heart and tell them, "No."

Summer heat is like winter's freeze,
For in the midst of it all lies buried love.
Under love, lies a broken heart.
Therein lies the crashing waves of my life.

My tears have filled the ocean's depths.
A bitter love has impounded my soul.
Never a forever, no fairytale end
For those not free to love who they wish.
