The Last Testament of Pantaleon (at the fall of Cenhelm)
The rainbow had faded...
Beneath a sky of ashen gray
Without a solemn word to say
The ancient light had begun to dim
As death slowly settled in
The lightning far off over the hill
Filled their ears so loud and shrill
Announcing darkness' lonely betrothed
Weaving suffering over all we know
From a distance one could hear the screams
Knowing full well what every octave means
The light diminished in so very many
In the blink of an eye not a trace left of any
The night was such repeating incessantly
Until the silence at once over took control of me
And it was then that we realized all who fought were lost
The blood of the souls spent without regard to the cost
No more would their cries echo throughout the land
Children laughing, chasing each other and holding hands
All gone to the storm of advance in this War
That rages and rages eternally evermore
That I lay down my pad and my quill one last time
And succumb to the journey brought by enemies of mine
May the Sun always shine on your face my friends
Peace be with you until...
The End.
