Childhood Summers
In the Summer haze
of purple and crimson rays,
the air is hushed into stillness,
as days fade into dusk.
Crickets get louder,
their song, a reminder
of my childhood summers
at my Grandfather's house
where peppers I picked daily
and climbed peach and plumb trees,
as we watched the vibrations
of mid-day heat release,
we relished our moments
of contentment and peace.
