The Language of Flowers
Darrell Pender 1967
Everything has a name, and names have meanings
In petals and blooms, names are entombed
In scented speech, blooms whisper, softly.
The scent brings forth a name, and names have power untold
Roses, red, tell of love's desire
Lilies, white, sing of purity's chase
Violets, purple, murmur truths that never tire.
Sunflowers, bright, speak of joyous faces
Daisies, pure, claim hearts innocent and free
Tulips, bold, declare passion's strong hue.
Lavender, soft, brings calm tranquility
Orchids, rare, with elegance, pursue
Peonies lush riches unfold
Marigolds, gold, loyal and bright
Hydrangeas, blue, emotions uncontrolled
Iris, faith, and hope take flight.
In petals and blooms, scented language is profound
A garden of names in colors renowned
Each flower's name tells a story
This is the Language of Flowers.
