Melting Cancer

why is your face deformed

why do they poke you

why is it that the roll of a dice
decides whether you live or die in
5 years

why does your hospital room smell like
morphine
and sweat

why is it that you want me to stay longer
and longer
and longer
by your bedside

should i bring my bunny plush?
will i comfort you when i sleep the night?
what do i do when i watch you writhe

I don’t cry
