I Reach For Food

Ronald Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

From the tasty legumes
Being the flavorful peanuts,
My strong teeth hammering resumes.

I like to smell the food cooking…
When treats in the oven are baked,
I take a bite when no one’s looking.

I love apple pies.
I read the ingredients…
I eat even if it tells lies.

Like a madman I reach for food,
And I eat until…
It puts me in a good mood.

I like those avocados green
And made into guacamole.
If someone eats it, I get mean.

Like blood trickling down my head,
I eat strawberries,
Juicy, dripping on my bed.
