A Woman Among Others

A triangle of polite women
with faces turned towards
differing winds,
arms gently crossed,
toes lightly tapping...
vaguely waiting for a voice
to bubble up within.
We are fractured in thoughts
and eyes don’t see eyes
but feet are placed
pointing at each other.

Pull the pin...
see the structure
collapse in tumbling blocks,
we will be a building no more
but we should be..
I am the weakest corner
with a stubborn angle
that won’t bend gracefully.
Twisting has forced
subtle breaks in my lines
and I’ve hastily reinforced them.
I am poised to fall away
from the easy give and take
of the other women.
I will fall from the grid,
I’m tensed for the impact..
but I refuse to look down.

What a powerful and thought-provoking poem! The imagery of a triangle of polite women, each facing different winds and with subtle tensions brewing underneath, is very vivid and captivating. The metaphor of the building about to collapse is a powerful representation of the internal struggles and tensions within the group.

One suggestion for improvement could be to explore more deeply the reasons behind the tension and resistance felt by the narrator. What specifically is causing the "subtle breaks in lines" and the feeling of being the weakest corner? Adding more context or specific examples could help readers connect even more deeply with the emotions and themes of the poem.

Overall, this poem is beautifully written and engages the reader with its emotional depth and imagery. Keep up the great work!
