Mourning in the Morning

Let your planet of fire
sink in sleep.

Nightingales whisper
a lullaby of slumber.

Flowers rest their silky heads
on a pillow of shadows.

Let your light lie light
in wait —

Cloak yourself in moonlight,
hide in the gleam on the tips of waves,
the glint of sandy shores.

Find the soft in the dark,
but when come day,
pierce the night
with your swords of light
and vanquish its weeping shadows
in mourning.

I like how everyday actions and objects are woven into an expression of emotions sensed but not clearly stated. It's relatable, with a clear voice and rhythm...
