Maybe Earth is really just Hell

Why do the gods hate me?

Is it because I'm really just the devil?

That's the only logical explanation, of this I'm certain.

It's as though my job was predetermined from birth. Watching tortured soul after tortured soul passing by on their way to pay for the life they threw away.

All of them, thinking why me, why me? Taking pity on only themselves. Not knowing, they had no choice but to lead lives of sin.

Meanwhile, knowing it was all because of me. I'm suffering the same fate as them wallowing in self-pity, but oh I know why me. The mistake they made was they let me in, but for everyone else to experience good in life, one of us has to take on all that is evil. Not even the devil can live a life with the weight of all the vile, rotten darkness and not start to feel even lower than the depths that is his home. So why not help the holy enjoy being good by bringing the bad seeds down with me? Who do you think coined "misery loves company"?

I made a mistake, they don't like me taking liberties and deciding an innocents fate. Overconfident, I laughed aloud at the Gods, saying "do your best to give me your worst"!

Almost in unison, I hear them say, "I don't even need to set down my beer"

Little to no effort is needed to do the worst with an assembly of deities more evil than me.

The assortment, the collective, all the gods of new and old, of Norse and Greek and Roman and Sikh.

Doing their combined best to gather every evil, throughout all time. From every universe existing at once, they begin to throw down toxic hate. Forming clouds of hate as it starts raining down pain, no choice but to soak it in, it's my reign as the king of the underworld that insures tomorrow it will all just begin again.

They keep me seconds from death. Always with my final breath I exhale ready for the pain to end.

Waiting to taste the lips of death's last kiss. But that Bliss quickly is dismissed as they fill my lungs back up with smoke as I cough and hiss.

Forced to feel all the pain in existence all at once.

"Fools! I can't die, even if one of them actually tried"!~

Right as the torture is about to commence again, they see me grin.

It's then they all realize it's not them allowing my life to exist.

It's everything evil I've absorbed for centuries that won't let the good prevail.

They can't play the villain like me, they can't take responsibility for the evil that exists, that's why they made me right after there be light.

I can feel them

I feel the disdain as they look down at me. Like Frankenstein, staring in dumb admiration in the living monster born of his own creation.

The gods all mystified and horrified at the same time, almost feeling empathy, even sympathy for what they see.

Then one asks, "why continue to torture him, why not let him be?"

"Why?" the angels and fates seemed to silently ask

"He chose his fate long ago, despite what he's learned and as cruel as it may seem, never again question why!"

"Never ask why he was given only bad luck, or ponder if it's gone too far. We chose him to mask our dastardly deeds. He didn't draw the short straw, he drew the only straw. When we decided his fate and ours, for it's better one of us suffer than a few."

"You want to be him? It can be arranged, he could be you"

"Do you wanna take his place for a century or two?"

........

........

........

........

"I thought not!"

"So go on, tell me if not him than whom"?

"Next time you FEEL anything for him or think about a break that he doesn't deserve".

"Remember, the only reason we ever had is the only reason we'll ever need!!"

"Why don't we care when we hear him cry?"

"Why don't we just leave him be??"

"BEE BEE Because F*CK HIM that's why!"
