A Mother’s Grief
Melody Martinez 1986 (Texas)
In the silent chambers of a mother's soul,
A tempest rages, beyond control.
Her heart a battlefield, of grief and pain,
Where echoes of loss endlessly remain.
Each breath a burden, each sigh a cry,
As she pleads with the empty sky.
But in the silence, she hears no reply,
As tears fall softly from her eyes.
For her daughter's gone beyond her reach,
A void in her heart impossible to breach.
The air grows thin, suffocating tight,
The memories dance in the fading light.
Her lungs once full now gasp for air,
Caught in the grip of a despairing snare.
With every heartbeat a painful throb,
Echoing your absence to this endless sob.
Her chest aches with the weight of loss,
A mother's struggle, a heavy cross.
Each day will be a struggle, each night a fight,
Against the shadows of the night.
For in the depths of sorrow's embrace,
She finds herself lost without a trace.
Her dreams shattered, her hopes laid bare,
In the cruel grip of despair.
She longs to embrace her daughter just once more,
To mend these broken pieces, to be restored.
Yet still she breathes though the air is thin,
Fighting against the storm within.
For though her daughter may no longer be,
She knows now she’s eternally free.
