How do they?

How do they carry on, those parents left behind,
When a piece of their heart has been torn from inside?
In the silence of night, in the echoes of day,
How do they learn to live when their child slips away?

Each dawn brings a weight, a sorrow so deep,
How do they wake from a night's restless sleep?
The world moves forward, but time feels so still,
How do they find strength when life tests their will?

Memories linger, a bittersweet pain,
How do they smile through the tears and the rain?
In the laughter of others, a reminder so stark,
How do they find light when the world seems so dark?

They carry on somehow, with courage unknown,
How do they mend when their hearts turn to stone?
Through whispers of hope, in each fleeting breath,
How do they live, still loving through death?

In the arms of each other, in the solace of friends,
How do they find the means to make amends?
With love as their anchor, though the storm rages on,
How do they endure when a part of them's gone?

They honor the lost, in every step taken slow,
How do they heal, as they grieve and they grow?
For a parent's love is a bond never severed,
How do they survive? With love that lasts forever.
