Run?

Running ragged, breathing fast
One, two, three, four…
Foot falls quicken, heart rate stutters
You can’t afford to hit the floor

Run the race, don’t falter now
Seconds, hours, weeks, years…
No time for slow…time is money
Don’t look now, the Jones’ are watching

Run. Work becomes priority
Blink. You’ve missed your children grow
Run. Work through every pain.
Blink. Health runs out eventually

Illness marks a slowing pace
Why not before the fall?
A lifetime lost, regrets surpass
Humanity misled your path

You missed the flowers
The beauty in kindness
The calm of a summer breeze
And all you had to do was slow

Let it go
Breathe
Enjoy simplicity
Find transcendence
