Poems Power

POEM'S POWER

Before the computer I sat
Hour after dreary hour
The words all fell flat
And they just had no power

A dark voice deep in my soul
Whispers God left you long ago

If the poem's power has come and gone
Why's the Poet go on and on?

I struggled to find the rhythm
I couldn't find the rhyme
It sounded like a church hymn
From a dark and dreary time

"Lord," I whisper, "accept my praise
Until I reach the end of my days"

Has the poem's power come and gone
As the Poet struggles on and on?

The words begin to appear
The poem began to grow
As faith pushed past my fear
And the words began to flow

Jesus whispers, " I'm always at your side
In your heart, and pen, I will abide"

The poem's  power is never gone
And the Poet writes on and on

And on that distant day
With my eyes dark and dim
My poem had its final say
As I rise and fly to meet Him

He says, " Your pen was never silent
My good and faithful servant "

The poem's power goes on and on,
Long after the Poet's come and gone
Amen
