River

Marabé 1978 (US)

I am like a flowing river
Relentlessly running
Relentlessly moving
Relentlessly still
And this so many failed to comprehend
How can some judge the depth of me
The height of my tides
The direction of my flows
Just by gazing away at my banks
You have yet plunged in
You have yet swam in
You have yet dipped a toe
How can you fantasize knowing how I feel inside
Or how deep my water flows?
