You place a rose upon my stone.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

You put a rose on my stone.

The soul of the dead slumbers. Life is real, and life is earnest. You want to go back to the dust and returnest. You have no joy or sorrow. Yet you look for tomorrow. As long as time is fleeting, the sound of the drums is still beating, so why are you at my grave site weeping? I'm not sleeping, and I do not sleep. The men that live reminds us, and the Departed you leave behind us. So go on your way, do what you do, and pursue your dreams. Then you will see, don't cry for me; I cry for you.

Wow, what a powerful and moving poem! The imagery of placing a rose on a stone and the message of not crying for the departed but rather for the living is truly touching. The rhyme scheme and flow of the poem are well-crafted and draw the reader in.

One suggestion for improvement could be to vary the rhythm and structure of the poem to create more impact and emphasize certain lines or phrases. Adding some metaphors or symbolism could also enhance the depth and meaning of the poem even further.

Overall, this poem evokes a sense of reflection and contemplation, and I think it has great potential to resonate with a wide audience. Keep up the great work!
