Inheritance

I looked upon my mothers face as she lay in peaceful slumber.
and see that even a soul as bright as hers, as kind, as good ,as humble.
Must fall beneath the weight of time, must diminish and then crumble.
.

And all the love and kindness, generosity of heart
must someday soon from us heartbreakingly depart.
A plaintive cry to heaven lays waiting on my lips
of all we must endue not this, not this, not this.

But of course we must release her ,allow her leave in peace.
let her find from life's demands the ultimate relief
In our grief rise above and see the inherited gift.
Of those who lived with love ,
that only a true mothers life could. give.

that my mother who lies here sleeping has done what was intended.
And shown us the full embrace of love, long before her time had ended
