My Angel by the sea.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

My Angel by the Sea.

I can see the gray clouds rolling in, and the wind is howling. The ship is tossing and turning, and you can hear the sails tearing. The waves are crashing over the bow as the mist hits my face. But there is no other place I want to be; it's me and the sea. I look into the darkness, and far off, I see a light shining bright. I take the wheel and pull it toward the light. I come close and see a shadow of a girl in white lace holding a candle. But how can this be? I guess she's my angel; she was meant to be. The winds calmed down, and I turned the ship around. Every day, I think of My Angel by the Sea. She is the only girl for me.

About this poem

I was always fascinated by the power of the sea. We had a boat when we were young and used to go out on the weekends.
