Seen in the Dark

In blood so thick that bubbles black
I see many hearts beat so slack;
Through strange news days, our lives are stained,
With wise words lost and so few gained.

Desireless lives so loveless lie
Within their sorrow drifting by.
Tears are found only to be lost,
Running away with an unknown cost.

Night does rise to kill lights’ pleasures
From the home of tarnished treasures.
In cursed lands around us see
Happiness slain by misery.

In folding’s of a worn-out age
Forever through foolish battles wage,
Lasting hope but is never filled
Have made men die and others killed.

Through blood so black that bubbles thick
Man's greedy nature spreads too quick;
Within our lives are times so stained,
With wise words lost, and sadness gained.

About this poem

From my book Tarnished Treasures. Like many, I long for the times gone by when life was simpler, a time before the world knew of terrorism, before wars could be fought across the globe simultaneously, when the governments and businesses had the interest of the people first, and not their own pocket.
