We are one correction

It’s black history month
You want to know what’s great
Midways been servicing adults
Since 1978

Getting on topic
Which I don’t want to avoid
The first black man to open a senior care facility, was the Rev. J.H. Floyd

Mary Eliza Mohoney
The first black licensed nurse
Was the funnel through which
Our African American Nurses were given birth

There are several disabled leaders
Just to name two
Who made an impact on history
They were African American to.

Brad Lomax from the black panther party
He had a whole lot to bear
He had multiple sclerosis
And lead from a wheelchair

He played a vital role in section 504
Of the Rehabilitation Act of Congress being passed
It was one of the first Federal laws guaranteeing Civil Rights Protection
To disable people, at last!

Muhammad Ali was dyslexic
Some people didn’t even know
From the poetic rhythm of his words
And the smoothness in the flow.

The greatest woman in history was my mother
Who of course I knew
She’s enjoying herself in heaven
Doing whatever it is they do.

For me, the greatest Guy of them all
my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
To Him
skin color didn’t matter at all.

Not only is it black history
It’s also election year
Take advantage of your rights
It took alot for us to get here.

The first black man to vote was in 1870
Ooh what a delight
The Voting Rights Act didn’t get passed till 1965, something ain’t right.

It took almost 100 years
For us to fully legally arrive
So don’t forget to vote
Keep hope alive.

History is all of us
For future generations to come
We all have something special to give
Each and everyone

So I’m going to leave you now
Because this is turning into a speech
Shalom, Shalom, in Jewish terms means
I leave you in Perfect Peace
