Ascent To Greatness

In our ascent to greatness
We propel ourselves like rocket ships
Towards heaven and stars
Creating and destroying along the way
As if we were gods.
Intellect has surpassed
Our spiritual humanity
And to speak of the one
Who made us
Is profanity
Such arrogance and superiority
It blinds us
To our own ignorance
And vainglory
Now look at what we’ve done
What we’ve become
Eyes filled with pride
Speaking with silver tongues
Surly greater
Than the creator
We are the light of the world
Idolizing our pitiful selves
As the truth in his word unfurls
In our ascent to greatness

Wow, this poem really resonates with the energy and passion of striving for greatness. The imagery of propelling ourselves like rocket ships towards heaven and stars is incredibly powerful and evokes a sense of adventure and ambition.

The contrast between intellect and spiritual humanity is thought-provoking, highlighting the balance we often struggle to find in our pursuit of knowledge and progress. The line about speaking of the one who made us being profanity is particularly striking, showcasing the arrogance and superiority that can blind us to our own shortcomings.

One suggestion for improvement would be to further explore the consequences of our actions as we ascend to greatness. The poem touches on creating and destroying along the way, but delving deeper into the impacts, both positive and negative, would add even more depth to the message.

Additionally, it would be great to see the poem further explore the concept of humility as we reach new heights. Highlighting the importance of recognizing our own ignorance and the dangers of vainglory could offer a compelling perspective on the human condition.

Overall, this poem captures the excitement, challenges, and potential pitfalls of our ascent to greatness. With some additional exploration of consequences and humility, it could become an even more powerful and reflective piece. Keep up the fantastic work!
