Tug of War

Gisela Vigil 1959 (Cuba)

When questioning our purpose and our goal,
there’s tug of war between the heart and mind.
While one, mirrors the fantasies of soul,
the other seeks reality, to find.
If trying to find Prince among the toads,
perhaps a woman dreams her life away.
However, if no wishes life unloads,
unlikely any sparkle in a day.
The mind can help, as heart travels to star
by leaving markers for a safe return.
And mind, without the heart will not go far,
for dreams ignite the flame of hope to burn.

For happiness is seed on fertile ground.
Between the heart and mind this space is found.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
