The Contract

Joshua Kinsel 1984 (San Antonio, tx)

Once again, the serpent is before me, contract in hand, bowing low to implore me,

With a prick of my finger, and my thumb stamp below, the world could be mine, the magic could flow,

The page is still blank, I must carefully word it, I'd hate to be hasty, and stupidly blurt it,

First I'll need long life, aging no more, immune to diseases, no ailments in store,

Power from death, immortal eternal, protection as well, when we reach the inferno,

I'll need wealth to sustain me, as long as my life is, maybe some extra, if I choose to show kindness,

I also want magic, and power over enemies, with musical genius, so others will befriend me,

I want power over demons, to bind and to use, power over everything, making humans my muse,

I want to be equal, to you and to God, with power to create, a world with a nod,

I'll prick my finger, if this can be done, and stamp it below,my blood on my thumb,

Just think it over, return when you're ready, don't show back up, if you're just gonna be petty,

About this poem

I've been offered a deal with the devil twice no and twice I refused due to my altered state of consciousness...but I can't help think of what I might include in that contract if I were to accept.
