Following Along

Following along behind others to believe,
A riding upon their coattails...
Is one's way to obtain,
To gain popularity and votes received.
In debates won to win.
With approval done to achieve,
From another who leads...
The people clearly deceived?
Leaving one who follows,
Left tricked and duped.
And made publicly to appear,
Looking like a fool.
While standing besides someone who knows,
There is only one with an ego.
That the people support to endorse.
And others who are 'wannabees',
Could never come close.
Imitating.
As the leader already picked by the people.
Turns to the audience and says to admit:

'I've come to admire,
The performance and the act of it.
An act I was born to perform,
With the highest degree of excellence.
However...
Who in their right mind,
Would choose a substitute?
When the 'real' thing,
Has already been declared your choice.
Does that make sense?
I think not!
Applaud this attempt with your approval,
Of this joker's mental miscalculation.
With a polite removing,
This clown off 'my' stage!
Everybody, EVERYBODY...
Thinks what I do is easy to duplicate!'
