The Rival King

The Rival King

He was my brother once, in blood and name,
The son of Pharaoh, raised in royal grace;
He shared my throne, my glory, and my fame,
Until he turned his back on his own race.

He fled the land, and joined the Hebrew slaves,
The lowest of the low, the weak and poor;
He claimed their God had spoken, and he raves
Of plagues and wonders, threats and signs galore.

He came before me, with his staff and rod,
Demanding that I let his people go;
He challenged me, defying me and God,
And brought upon my realm such pain and woe.

He parted seas, he drowned my chariot force,
He led the Hebrews to the desert sands;
He made them laws, he gave them a new course,
He brought them to the edge of promised lands.

He was my rival, and my greatest foe,
The one who dared to face me eye to eye;
He was the king of kings, I came to know,
The man who made me weep, the man called Moses.
