Same Landscape, Different View

I have my opinions.
You might say, a whole lot of them.
Most times, I simply cannot drink  from
a glass of Kool-Aid I’ve been handed.
I may see or hear something which
is troubling, especially  injustice.
That sparks a fire in me.

Each person harbors opinions.
The difference is that some will
hush and masquerade what is felt.
They will smile while sipping on a drink
they’ll hate to swallow,
or ask “How are you?”
without stopping for a few seconds
to hear your response.
Some, choose to be politically correct
and not speak freely.

Yes, I have my opinions.
Others have theirs.
Difference is I speak mine aloud
even if I’m called judgemental.
I will hear that, as just another opinion.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
