Christmas Is A Time For Giving

If Christ was sitting next to you...
     Celebrating Christmas day...
Would you feel at ease...
     Or, would you look away?

Have you taken time for others...
     Desperately in need?
Or, have you only thought of presents...
     And your shining Christmas tree?

Would Christ turn away from those...
Who were sent to the far east?
Or, would he take a moment to reflect...
On the importance of world peace?

Would he simply gaze at the homeless...
     Feeling sadness...then pity?
Or, would he offer them warmth and food...
      In an otherwise cold city?

Would he turn his back on the old...
      Who silently sit alone?
Or, would he reach out with love...
And bring them to his home?

For, Christmas is a time for giving...
Not just in a material way...
To give of ourselves with love unconditional...
Is what we must learn today.

If Christ was with you, Christmas day...
      Would you feel at ease?
Or would you look away...
From the tears upon his cheek?
