Painted Rainbows

I wish I could adorn your path,
paint rainbows in your sky.
And when the journey gets too rough,
I’d give you wings to fly.

I wish I could prevent the tears,
make troubles go away.
Lift up the sail in stormy seas,
add sunshine to your day.

I wish that I could heal the wounds
and shelter you from pain.
Provide the tools that you will need,
umbrellas in the rain.

But all these wishes that I dream,
illusions that are grand.
For you must learn to walk and fall
before you learn to stand.

All I can do is stand near by
as you go through life’s road.
If things should get too heavy then
I’ll help you with your load.

From all the struggles you will grow.
From failures you’ll get wise.
But still sometimes I wish I could
paint rainbows in your skies.

Gisela Vigil

Thank you for welcoming me to this community. I was born in Cuba but emigrated with my family to the US when I was three. I am mother to three young adults now, and also a grandmother. I’ve been writing for years, some I share, others I still keep in my personal file. I often write of struggles for we all face them as we journey through life. But still, I feel peace knowing I try my best. Feel blessed to have been given the gift of writing which I strive to improve cause there’s always room for growth. more…
