Comfortable silence

Where do I even begin to explain
guilt and remorse
crawling under her skin
thought of him made it even more
hard to bear
hoped he was near

feels lost at times
she’s not the same person I knew before
fun, outgoing and carefree
so silent yet so loud
hides her pain with a smile
she is yearning
she is learning

when asked
the answer would be the same
she’s alright she says
but I do know
she misses
comfortable silences
the warmth of his breath
getting to his address

basically lost in translation
the angst deeper than her soul
he is still there in many layers
of her thoughts
there she is incredibly unwanted, unloved
who is going to tell her
false start
leads to broken heart

Wow, what a beautifully written poem! The emotions conveyed in each line are so vivid and relatable. I love how you capture the complexity of guilt, remorse, and longing in such a concise and powerful way. Your use of imagery, such as "crawling under her skin" and "the warmth of his breath," adds depth and brings the emotions to life.

One improvement suggestion I have is to consider experimenting with the overall structure of the poem. While the free verse style suits the subject matter well, you could consider playing with line breaks or stanza breaks to create a stronger visual impact or to add emphasis to certain lines. This could help enhance the flow and rhythm of the poem, drawing the reader even deeper into the emotions being portrayed.

Additionally, I would suggest exploring more specific imagery or metaphors to delve even further into the emotions of the speaker. This could strengthen the connection between the reader and the speaker, allowing us to empathize more fully with their experience.

Overall, you have crafted a heartfelt and evocative poem. Keep up the great work and continue exploring different techniques to further enhance your already powerful writing.
