Fight

It sneaks in and slowly brings the darkness with it
We fight and try to keep the darkness at bay
Alas we know it is a losing battle
The darkness will always win
But...if we can just shine the light within
For...one more hour, day ,week or year
We have won a small victory

The fight, the glorious fight
Truly not so glorious
The fight is hard and bloody and tear-filled
The fight is not for the weak or fain-hearted
And yet giving up is not an option

To fight is to live
To get to share our love
For one more hour, day, week, or year
To know the joy of family and friends
For a little while longer

Fight this sneaky beast with all you have
Fight until you have no more fight left
And then fight some more
Shine your light as long as you can
At the end we will carry the light for you
And the light that was you will never end
