the sound of your hug

when I was a child
Your hug healed all
Boo-boos
Hurt feelings
Everything was
Fixed by your hug

When I was sick
Your hug healed me
Colds, coughs flu
It didn't matter
I felt better
When you hugged me

When I was a teenager
Your hug pulled me through
Heartache,mean girls
Teen-age angst
All remedied
By your hug

Then you moved away
I thought I'd never
Have the comfort of
Your hugs again
But then I learned
The sound of you hug

I could talk to you
By phone
And in your voice
I heard your hug
It comforted me
And healed me

The sound of your hug
Was all I needed
To make a bad day
Not so bad
And a good day
Fantastic

Until the day
You passed away
Your voice gave me
One last hug
And it healed me
I miss the sound of your hug

About this poem

I lost my mom about 4 years ago. I miss her a lot. One of the things I miss most is her hugs. When she moved to Florida I thought I would be without her hugs but then realized that when I spoke to her on the phone I could feel her hugs. This represents that.
