Unsearchable Majesty
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
He stretches out north of the void,
And hangs the earth upon nothing;
Allows the moon to be deployed,
For light, that the nightfall would bring.
He binds up water in the clouds,
The cloud will not split under them;
As they are covering the crowds,
To refill the earth not condemn.
He covers the face of the moon,
As His cloud does spread over it;
And unable to see it soon,
What God has done in His merit.
He carved a circle on the face,
Of the waters at the margin;
Between light and darkness embrace,
Where day would end, and night begin.
The Pillars of Heaven tremble,
Are astounded at His rebuke;
As the stilled sea does assemble,
Of the crashing waves that do spook.
By His power of the still sea,
Along with His understanding;
He smites the proud with His decree,
That gripes what He is demanding.
By His wind, the sky was made fair,
His hand had pierced the fleeing snake;
That had been attempting to dare,
In making the Lord to forsake.
But for the outskirts of His ways,
How small of a whisper to hear;
The lightning or thunder obeys,
An understanding to revere.
