My Best “Fren” (Whom I’m in Luv With)

We’ve recently reconnected
And suddenly it’s been revealed to me that
He’s the One
That he has been all along
The one I’ve been preparing for
That what I’ve been feeling for him since childhood
Was more than just deep infatuation
More Than just puppy love
More Than just crazy ridiculously extreme desire
That our destinies were always tied
Tho we were separated for so long-
YEARS, TIME, DISTANCE…
To a myriad circumstances beyond our control…

So then his random DMs…
Sending funny clips
Small chit chats
Him expressing a bit of deep thoughts
Visions start pouring in,
Of him studying me intensely in secret
Him finally coming to visit from afar,
With a pop up surprise proposal
With no courtship
With our Declarations of Love
And a Quick Elopement
And more…
Told me he secretly wanted me for always,
As did I, but was taken by surprise
Because he friend-zoned me
After a brief fling in childhood
That started with my first kiss,
His tenderly placed kiss on my cheek

He said he never stopped thinking ’bout me
Long after tragedy struck of his mom passing
And he moved about, far far away
Into adulthood,
And us into our own separate paths…
But I never moved,
And he was homesick…
Thought he forgot about me
And I tucked him deep away in my memories…

My best “fren”,
Whom I thought was unrequited love
And could never have
Or see again
Said he may visit soon
So let’s see if all my visions
And Many Confirmations from the Lord
Do Come True
Let’s see if our Destinies,
Set by God from birth, collide paths again
And soar into the Stratosphere!
Yes!! To be continued…

About this poem

I’ve recently reconnected with my first love, my childhood friend this fall, and felt led to write about it.
