Father-in-law of the Bride

The day has come that you walked down the aisle
To grab ahold the hand of my firstborn child

As your father walked you down
With your vale laced in white
All of us in the room thought
“oh, what a beautiful sight”

My son stood proud to meet you
With his best friends at his side
As someone else was watching
From the pew on the other side

A man that did not raise you
And who is around least of all
Whom I’m sure you were scared to meet
Since you knew my expectations would be hard to beat

Now as that time has passed
I hope you know that you’ve won my heart to last
No one else do I want standing there
Choosing my last name to bear

Now standing here today
I’m very proud and happy to say
that I didn’t have to give you away
But I’ve gained you as a daughter

Betrothed to one another
May your love Last forever
That I may take my place with pride
As Father-in-law of the bride
