To be in love with two

As I hold my new born son and look into his eyes,
I study all his features amazed at his tiny size.
I look over at my husband who's sitting by my side.
watching him stare at us with emotions he could not hide.
A new life we created to care for, teach, and love,
It's such a wonderful miracle that God has given us.
I turn and look over at the cradle thats sitting by my bed,
and see my son's twin sister who was born one minute ahead.
So tiny and so precious with her beautiful eyes of blue,
I watch her as she sleeps and I whisper "I love you".
as I close my eyes to rest I have a smile upon my face,
and I thank God one more time for bringing me to this wonderful place.

Wendy Nichols

Hi, I am from Tennessee, I'm 44 years old, a mother of two beautiful twins, a grandmother of identical twin girls, and one grandson. I have always loved to write; it's always been a way for me to get somewhere quiet and just relax. Writing has become an outlet for me to get things off my mind and vent a little through that writing. All of the poems I write are from actual events that have occurred in my life. I am a Police Captain over my departments Criminal Investigatio@n Division. I’ve been in law enforcement for many years and I still love what I do. The downside to my job is having to see the bad, angry, and emotional side of life's tragedies that most people never have to see, thankfully. Not all of my poems are about work, some are about my personal life and the experiences I have faced. If you read my poems I hope you enjoy them and I want to Thank you for taking the time to read them. I hope readers can relate to some of my poems, and the others I hope you never have to relate to at all. more…
