I’m Sorry & Others

Edwin Tanguma 1966 (CA)

I’m Sorry
#14
You have torn my heart to pieces
Just as I have done to yours
I told you I’d love you always
And you promised me the same
So why is it things went so wrong
When it was us that felt right
I can not sleep a wink tonight
For I long to hold you tight
Must we continue on this path
Until everything’s destroyed
Or is it the truth which I speak
That you do try to avoid
Please remember that I love you
No matter what may happen
#15
P.s. I’m sorry if I deceived you
And I’m sorry that I lied
But most of all I am sorry
That I ever made you cry
#16
P.p.s.s If we continue on our paths
Where on Earth might we end up
Completely shattered to pieces
Like delicate China cups
If you choose the path of divorce
Just know that it was your choice
The last words I will write to you
Are, “You’ll no longer hear my voice.”
