Make something with your free time

Make something with your free time
And even if you don’t, it’s always worth it to try
Turn away from your screen
Even if it makes you wanna scream

Make something with your free time
You don’t have to write down every time someone talks to you
You clutch a rainbow crucifix like the hand of a dying child
Like you just cut the life support

Make something with your free time
Life is short, but it’s not
Hope is a currency, and you’re running a recession
Let this reminder be your stimulus

Make something with your free time
You read your own life like a New York Times paper
The government didn’t shoot down your weather balloon
And you haven’t lost reelection

Make something with your free time
But don’t spend it all in one place
You’re stacking up loose change like a piggy bank
It’s time to grab the hammer

Make something with your free time
He’s not going to text you back
Didn’t you already cut your imaginary ties to him?
You’re still alone, just go to bed.

You made nothing with your free time
You’re moving nowhere at breakneck pace
You worried yourself into stasis
You’re still alone, just go to bed.

You’re still alone. Just go to bed.
