When Life Moves On

WHEN LIFE MOVES ON

When life moves on and loved ones are gone
The days can seem so long
Like a song that lingers in our hearts and mind
And thoughts of life turn so unkind
As we try to carry on

When life moves on and loved ones are gone
The days can seem so long
Like a memory so vivid that plays on repeat
And in remembering each moment our heart skips a beat
As we try to carry on

When life moves on and loved ones are gone
The days can seem so long
But like a cloud in the sky, so graceful and high
With each passing moment we say goodbye
As we try to carry on

About this poem

I write this poem during Covid whilst thinking about my lovely mum and how her dementia has affected us all. Although my mum is still here, I feel as though I have still lost the mum that brought me up, and life just keeps moving on.
