Who Would I Be

Who Would I Be

If I were a fly on the wall
Invisible, I could hear and see it all.
Not that I could care less,
A fly is such a pest!
I would rather just be me.

How would it feel to be a dove ?
A symbol of peace and love.
Just to fly and float above,
But really nothing to ponder of.
I would rather just be me

A lofty pine so I could see
Far above the other tree,
But they would cut me down
And supply the paper mills in town
I would rather just be me.

To be a rose, beautiful and fragrant ,
Long stemmed, graceful and elegant
This could be a possibility,
But roses fade and die- A liability!
I would rather just be me.

Would I  be a horse ; handsome and strong?
Flirting with my mare all day long?
A horse is subjected to abuse
From a taskmaster’s overuse.
I would rather just be me.

Just to be content with who I am
Takes no effort, but a plan.
I am unique, no one else I’d be.
Secure, determined, it’s plain to see
I would rather just be me.
