The Poet’s Friend

A little book
In which we look
When we must find a word.
A word to rhyme
With every line,
Or phrase, or even verb.
We need this friend
If we should pen
Some verses kept to time,
For all to read,
A joy indeed!
When rhythm rules the line.
The thesaurus!
A must for us
If beauty will be penned,
Then take a look.
This little book
Will be the poet’s friend.

This was a very sweet simplistic poem. I am an eighth grade English Language Arts teacher and would love to use your piece with my students. There is so much to pull and glean to help them begin their own creative piece. A thesaurus! I love it , and so will they. Thank you for sharing you joy.
