Intension Impression

Intension Impression
By Arman Hoque

I heard a man berate his daughter,
Like a lamb being led to slaughter,
I turned and said “language please”,
It turned the mood away from ease.

Yet in the moment, I had known I’d done well…
Not to let my self conscience swell.

If I’m not part of the solution,
The problem goes on.
If I tacitly accept things around that are wrong.

My life’s not a poem, but I can try to be good.

Make some small impact and be understood.

I can’t watch someone suffer, but I can’t save them all.
I’m more likely to trip on my own feet and fall.

I’m not a knight in shining armour,
I have no false impression.
But my heart was in the right place and I stand by my intention.

About this poem

I heard a man swearing at / berating his child and I could not keep quiet; though everyone told me to shut up … I’d rather die a hero than stay silent the villain. Not my place… I understand, but it’s hard… so I wrote this poem

That you stood up for the child is very admirable. I wish more people would speak out against injustices. Well done.
