Journey to the Christ
On that most glorious night,
Bethlehem was filled with travelers from afar,
Coming to pay their tribute to Caesar,
Not to follow the star.
All had come in a hurry,
Miserable to pay their bonded debt,
Not realizing their Messiah was coming,
To be their shepherd, not yet.
This night was to bring, a sweet, sacred birth,
One foretold from the beginning of the earth.
Angels on high descended to see such a sight,
Holding soft on their voices, the songs of light.
Oh little town, why dost thou sleep?
Greet thy King and joyfully weep!
The promised One has come to save!
Let Heaven and earth laud his fame!
Come join with all the glories above,
Telling with joyful chorus of holy love!
Let the rocks and trees, the wind and seas,
All creatures join the angels and sing!
With choirs of hearts and souls of song,
We proclaim the One who makes right from wrong.
The Lord, the truth, whom all prophets have foretold,
Has come to earth, to reclaim His lost fold!
The peace, the beauty of His gift,
To return to Him is our only offering to give.
Remember the circumstances of His birth.
Take up His yoke, and know your greatest worth!
