She never smiled

She who never smiled
But only woke, ate and cried
She explored the world as if in a painting
Each sign led her eye like a brushstroke falling
She expected nothing of tomorrows or yesterdays
Every photograph was sadly thrown away
Her sound so absorbed in others melody
The whisper of pleas lost in the children's play
Each morcel tightly packed away in her
She moved her body constantly
No reason to live for time nor day
No mirror found her face or eye
Her clothes so perfectly worn
A heart so dulled within it's dome
She fell so softly to the floor
The air had gone yet she awoke
The fainted mind anew had spoke
Where did her old self pass away
She began again in the blinding lights
A piece touched her lips
And in her forgave the fear of life
And the stars were lit within her eyes
