My World.

Michael Watkins 1965 (San Diego)

The world that I know is changing
threats of war and no food to eat,
The climate changes still growing
weather conditions we can't defeat,
Housing problems for the homeless
shuffled around with no where to go,
Sent away from our county shelters-
because they were full three days ago,
Judged and sentenced for an addiction
when it really shouldn't be a crime,
Thousands of people sent to prison
with the same exact charges as mine,
People robbing and stealing from the poor
only to sell to the rich for more drugs,
Community crimes at an all time high
and the only ones kids look up to are thugs,
People found face down-not responsive-
from a drug that's so potent and cheap,
One hit from the size of a match head
and they overdose dead in the street,
Pray for better times for our children
for a life filled with Love as they grow,
Take me back to a world full of caring
to a world that I once use to know.
