Falls Strength

Walking underneath
a golden canopy
of leaves

the wind swirls them above.
I feel like, I am
seeing a part of heaven.

Then, I watch my feet
crunching the leaves and the smell of autumn.
I breathe it in.

About this poem

I wrote this walking in the woods in fall. I love the sights, smells and sounds of fall.

Love your ‘about this poem’ comment and couldn’t agree more! The following are the notes I took as I read through all the September poems:

“Beautiful imagery: I could see the reticulated gold light descending through the canopy, the perfumed breeze and the crunching leaves beneath my feet as well! This poet had a wonderful handle on potent and vivid displays of imagery, no question!”
