Before Is Not My After

In these days and times today we face,
I am determined to stay,
Among the believers.
Away from those who have chosen to deceive.

In these days and times,
To seem crazed and in utter disarray.
I know I have got to stay,
Among the believers.
Being a deceiver,
Is not healthy for my mentality.
I refuse to live that way.

Monday and the days throughout each week,
Hypocrites near and far...
Are seeking anyone of faith,
Hoping to defeat.
With a smile and a pat on their back.
Done to do then knock them off their feet.
And not discreet about that either.

Experience to live and get it is the teacher.
Seldom learned from lessons preached.
Many times I have found,
Being knocked down to the ground.
A crawling back to stand on my two feet,
Had not been easy to do publicly.

What was done before to close that door?
Is not my after.
To know each day.
More and more.

In these days and times today we face,
I am determined to stay away from deceivers.
To believe in myself.
Regardless of who has what to say,
About how I walk in an arrogant way.
To earn and feel blessed,
That what I've done I owe no one.
And God knows where I'm coming from!

It is what it is as is to be.
Before is not now my after!
That I do know and believe.
