Each Heart Is Called

Each heart is called
To reconcile
Life’s hurts

I have dealt with mine
And
My path now lies
In
Here and now

I will not put my hand
To the plough
Of
Self Justification
And turn the ugly clods
Of
Past’s resentments

I will not scatter
Seeds of accusation
To fall
In furrowed threats

I will not sit
Like a lording carrion crow
On judgment's fence
Ever returning
To pick over
The carcass of the past

Nor, will I sit down
And lick
Self pity’s wounds

Forgive,
Forget,
Move on!

My road
Is
Here and now
And
The future
Beckons me.
