peace of my mind

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

I want to reach out to the stars I once thought were street lights as a child. I want to go into the woods, strip naked like the day I was born, and run wild and free, not a single a care, just my thoughts and a pen and paper to write my god-awful poetry. I think someone is listening to take both this pain and happiness away. Into another time of night and day

I do not want too much, just a little touch again of the life that was becoming my best friend. I'm shaking, and I'm cold. I feel the same, but hell, I got back up because I had enough of falling down, and I'm too damn much of a beautiful soul to be dying young or turning old, so the story was written, and now it must be told.

Here I sit with tears in my eyes, but they hold no regrets as hold the matches to light the fuse to burn the bridges down that no longer honor me or the peace of my mind.
