Prayers sent

Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)

Prayers sent

With some slim hope
they will be read By the almighty

carried in the wind Adrift,
Forsaken spirits calling out

a heavenly hope A single leaf
falling upon the wind

So many free their minds
of their worldly cares

Reading signs
of a heavenly design

in hopes of armadas
of free souls

To open their minds
in search of heavens respite

From the countless towers in godless temples
Sacrificial altars springing up like fast food joints

To catch free spirits of youths
being led to slaughter

By the purveyors
who play/pray/prey

Only for the sake of material ends
On a show which never seems to end

Faithless servants too proud to defend
A ghost ship derelict adrift, alone

As the fear
of god’s wrath

Litters the desolate landscape of lost souls
Brings visions of a bad place of no love

Of a private room in hell

With the heavy presence
of fire and brimstone

In the air

as hopes and prayers
Are released

bound for heaven

Even though those who survive
May never truly find the answer

Too blind to see truth
even when it’s right before their eyes
